What happened
Sportradar Group AG (NASDAQ: SRAD) said it will sell Atrium Sports, the Synergy Sports coaching and scouting business, for $170 million in cash. The company said on October 6, 2026, that Sportradar AG entered into a definitive agreement with Teamworks Innovations, Inc. for the sale. Atrium Sports is the operator of that coaching and scouting business.
The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Sportradar said the transaction streamlines business and sharpens focus on core betting, gaming and media priorities. It will retain certain technology assets, capabilities and revenue that underpin its core offerings and are already integrated into the business. Those retained items include automated video production cameras, automated graphics solutions, certain computer vision capabilities and competition management products.
Key numbers
| Metric | Latest | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cash purchase price | $170 million | SEC 6-K | |
| Expected close | fourth quarter of 2026 | SEC 6-K | |
| EBITDA multiple | double-digit EBITDA multiple | Press release |
Why it matters
The sale narrows a business line that sits outside Sportradar's core betting, gaming and media priorities. The company said the proceeds will further strengthen its balance sheet and support capital allocation priorities. The release says the transaction represents an accretive double-digit EBITDA multiple relative to Sportradar's market valuation. The purchase price is subject to certain purchase price adjustments, so the final cash is not fixed yet.
OptimistFi's case is that Sportradar can create value if its sports-data and betting-technology network remains indispensable while scale absorbs rising sports-rights costs. This sale supports that thesis by narrowing the business and keeping technology assets tied to core offerings. That keeps some related technology and revenue inside the company. The filing's caveat is the purchase price is subject to certain purchase price adjustments and the deal is not closed.

What's next
The transaction is currently expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions. If it closes on that timetable, Sportradar will receive the cash proceeds and complete the divestiture of Atrium Sports. Until then, the agreement remains pending. The purchase-price adjustments will set the final amount.
