Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that 2025 was a profit trough, and this filing strengthens that view. Revenue, net income attributable to stockholders, EBIT-adjusted profit and automotive operating cash flow all improved from a year earlier.

Net income margin rose to 6.7% from 2.7%, and EBIT-adjusted margin rose to 8.2% from 6.9%. GM's large revenue base means a margin recovery can move earnings quickly.

The new $20.0 billion authorization is $14.0 billion larger than the completed $6.0 billion program.

Nine-month revenue reached $141.7 billion, and adjusted automotive free cash flow was $12.2 billion, both above a year earlier.

The company said the expected financial results do not include the potential impact of future adjustments related to special items.

What's next

Mary Barra and GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson will host a conference call for investors and analysts at 8:30 a.m. ET today.

Guidance near the updated ranges would support the case. A lower outlook would weaken it.

The December 17 dividend is payable to holders of record at the close of trading on December 4, 2026.
