Why it matters
The filing shows a large asset base and a quarter-specific drag tied mainly to one disposal. At about 0.28% of total AUM, the negative operations-disposed figure was small beside the $785.0 billion base. The two business lines also remain visible in the $581.7 billion and $166.2 billion figures.
The report says AUM had an approximate 1.5% negative impact as a percentage of beginning period AUM. It says that came from foreign currency translation, market performance, operations disposed, and other items not reported as part of net cash flow.
It also links operations disposed AUM mainly to the sale of Chile annuity business in Principal Asset Management – International Pension. But the filing says other items mattered too, so the Chile sale was not the only driver.

What's next
Principal Financial said the financial supplement for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 will be posted on or about October 26, 2026. That is the next dated update in the filing. Investors can use it to see whether the Chile annuity sale remains the main reason for operations disposed AUM. If the same AUM split shows up again, it would support the view that the quarter's negative item was isolated.
A different mix would weaken that reading.
