TrueBlue (NYSE: TBI) adds former United Parks CFO to board under cooperation deal

What happened

TrueBlue, Inc. (NYSE: TBI) named former United Parks Resorts finance chief Elizabeth Castro Gulacsy an independent director, effective Oct. 26. She also joins the board's Audit Committee. The seat follows an April 10, 2026 cooperation agreement with Eric H. Su, EHS Management LLC and EHS Azure Opportunity Fund LP, the 8-K says.

The board grew to 10 directors for her arrival. Nine of the 10 are independent. Castro Gulacsy will get the same pay as other non-employee directors.

She was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of United Parks Resorts Inc. (NYSE: PRKS), formerly SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc., until 2022. She then moved to CFO consulting and advisory work for the company. Earlier she spent more than a decade at Cross Country Healthcare, Inc., a healthcare staffing company, and rose to Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller. She also sits on the board of NNN REIT, Inc. (NYSE: NNN).

Why it matters

The appointment speaks to the cost and cash side of the turnaround. OptimistFi has argued that TrueBlue's equity works only if revenue stabilization turns into margin and cash recovery, not just more low-quality staffing volume.

At United Parks, Castro Gulacsy led senior notes offerings, a debt refinancing and several cost-saving initiatives. Board Chair Chris Kreidler said that experience, together with her earlier staffing work, fits TrueBlue's focus on disciplined execution, operating leverage and better profitability. Her Cross Country Healthcare roles as Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller sit alongside her new Audit Committee seat.

Still, one director does not change revenue, margins or cash generation. The appointment adds finance experience to the Audit Committee, but the turnaround case rests on operating results. OptimistFi's view stays mixed.

What's next

The next test is TrueBlue's next quarterly report on Form 10-Q. Stable revenue with wider margins and stronger cash flow would support the case. Volume gains without them would not.
